  • OMG! Dawn, that story about the spinning on the ice made the hair on the back of my neck stand up! That is my ultimate fear living here in the Sierra, and with good reason. I had an almost identical experience a few years ago, and coming originally from Orange County, it was quite a shock, as we don’t get black ice there! lol Anyway, in telling the story to more seasoned “professionals” over the years since then, I have heard the same advice over and over again. If that should ever happen to you again, the best thing to do is to NOT use the brakes – just take your feet off both peddles and stear into the direction that your car is fish-tailing. I have had some near misses since then where I was able to try this maneuver, and it seemed to work. Not saying it’s golden, but worth a try. Merry Christmas to you both and thanks for all the work – love the show!

  • Hi Steve and Dawn, Great show! Really love the 3 Blind Mice group. Karmyn played them on her last show. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! Thanks for being a great friend.

  • Lora,

The other day it was super icy when I left for work and boy did I play it safe. I put it in 4 wheel drive before I even left the driveway. Funny thing was it was only icy on our neighborhood. By time I got to town it was fine and all the way out to work I didn’t have a single problem, but I still kept it in 4 wheel drive.

Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully next time I will remember what to do and not to do.

    Happy New Year to you.
    Dawn
